Over the course of this 7 day journey, we will be staying at 3 different luxury accommodations. We will begin our trip at Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, which is the first and only 5-star traditional spa-inclusive resort in the entire country. All of the rooms here have a beautiful view of the scenic Neyphu Valley, and either a large terrace or balcony from which you can take in the incredible views.

From here, we will venture to Dhensa Boutique Hotel, located in Punakha, which is flanked by thick pine forests and overlooks the Punakha river and hundreds of paddy fields that stair-step down to the valley floor. All rooms feature private balconies overlooking the incredible scenery that surrounds the hotel.

Our last stop will be the newly renovated Druk Hotel, which is nestled in the heart of Thimphu and is surrounded by verdant forests. Each floor explores a subtle palette drawn from water, air, earth, fire and sky, and the spa is certainly not to be missed.

Itinerary 

September 8

• Arrival to Paro and be greeted by representatives who will take you to Kyichu lhakhang, a temple dating back to the 7th century
• Afterwards, sisit to Ta Dzong, which houses the national museum, followed by lunch
• Head to the hotel for the rest of the evening

September 9

• After breakfast, excursion to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest)
• After lunch, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, a temple of which the construction marked the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan
• Return to the hotel and perhaps enjoy a spa treatment at the hotel prior to dinner
• There are also a variety of other offerings available, such as yoga and a cooking lesson

September 10

• Begin the drive to Punakha after breakfast
• After lunch, stop to visit Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility
• After a short hike through the area, head to Punakha Dzong, the religious and administrative center of the region
• Check into your new hotel and evening at leisure

September 11

• Enjoy a sunrise yoga session followed by a visit to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, which was built to remove bad forces and promote peace
• Following lunch, drive to the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang nunnery, where you will have the opportunity to meet with the nuns and learn about their daily routines
• Return to hotel for evening at leisure

September 12

• After breakfast, begin the drive to Thimphu, with a few scenic outlook stops along the way
• Check in to the hotel and enjoy lunch there
• In the late afternoon, a speaker on Gross National Happiness will come to the hotel and give a private talk of the importance of this policy to Bhutanese culture
• Enjoy dinner at the hotel

September 13

• In the morning, attend a meditation lesson led by. a monk at Buddha point which offers incredible panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley and boasts the largest Buddha statue in the country
• From here, start a leisurely 2 hour hike through blue pine forests to Changangkha Lhakhang, a monastery famous for its incredible views
• Enjoy lunch, and afterwards head to the Institute of Traditional Medicine Services to learn about Sowa Rigpa ("The Science of Nourishment") theories and beliefs
• Finally, enjoy a stop at the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan, where you will get to know the national art of weaving
• Return to the hotel for your final dinner

• After breakfast, transfer to Six Senses Thimphu where the retreat will take place
